The Australian Institute of Police Management (AIPM) is an educational organisation with an extensive history in educating public safety leaders. Since the early 1960’s, the AIPM has been integral in developing police and emergency service leaders and executives with more than 7,000 senior officials from policing, law enforcement, public safety, emergency services and other like-minded organisations attending AIPM courses.
The AIPM is a recognised world leader in the design and delivery of education and development for individuals and organisations involved in the provision of policing, law enforcement, security, public safety, emergency management and related professions.
AIPM programs are renowned for their outstanding quality, including a number of accredited courses under the Tertiary Education Quality and Standards Agency (TEQSA). The AIPM is unique as a policing college through it's higher education accreditation.
Our programs continually evolve to meet today's volatile and dynamic operating environment leveraging research and thought leadership from high ranking public safety leaders and world leading academics.
Our programs bring a wealth of diversity and experience to our classroom activities through the contributions of our prestigious Visiting Fellows from Australasian policing jurisdictions, the Australian Federal Police, the US Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), the Metropolitan Police in London, the Scottish Police College, the Royal Canadian Mounted Police and numerous respected universities such as Cambridge and Harvard. This diversity brings an international dimension to our programs, developing our alumni’s international professional network.
AIPM programs have received multiple national awards and accolades, from a range of institutions such as; the Australasian Council of Women and Policing; the Australian Human Resources Institute (AHRI) and the Queensland Premier’s Award for Excellence.
Story of Place
The AIPM continues to explore ways in which leadership can help grow the connection between police and First Nations peoples. This will require a different conversation, and a renewed understanding of our Indigenous history and how the role of the police intersects with that history. What better place to start than our own back yard – the incredible piece of land upon which we are privileged to sit. We recently consulted with our local indigenous elders to find out more about Car-rang-gel, the land on which the AIPM sits. Below is an outtake from the ‘Story of place’ video that resulted.
